The 23 Annual Vallejo Community Kwanzaa Celebration will be held at the Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum on Saturday, December 30, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This year’s theme is “Nia: Purpose.”
Kwanzaa is a seven day festival which celebrates African and African-American culture and history.
The seven principles, also called the Nguzo Saba, are a set of ideals that are discussed during Kwanzaa, and each day of Kwanzaa represents a different principle. They are listed as:
Umoja: Unity
Kujichagulia: Self-determination
Ujima: Collective Work and Responsibility
Ujamaa: Cooperative Economics
Nia: Purpose
Kuumba: Creativity
Imami: Faith
