SUMMARY:Sally! A film by Deborah Craig Presented by Anna Bergman
DESCRIPTION:A film screening with the director\, Deborah Craig. Presented by Anna Bergman\nSally Gearhart (1931-2021) was a pioneering Lesbian activist and feminist leader.  As professor of Speech\, Theater and Women Studies at San Francisco State University\, Gearhart helped to launch the first women and gender studies program in the country  In 1978 Gearhart worked to defeat the Briggs initiative which would have banned Gays and Lesbians from working in public school.   Gearhart worked closely with Harvey Milk to combat homophobia and elect him Mayor of San Francisco.   Her activism was lifelong and extended to ecofeminism.   This is a new film and we are delighted to be joined by director Deborah Craig for Q/A. \n\nAdmission: sliding scale 10-20 dollars at the door.

SUMMARY:Benicia Chamber Players: The Verve Trio!
DESCRIPTION:Benicia Chamber Players’ April program takes inspiration from Irish composer Joan Trimble’s philosophy: “I am free to be myself regardless of fashion.” Rather than adhering to a single school or style\, Trimble embraced artistic freedom—an ethos reflected in Free to Be Myself\, a program of piano trios by Amy Beach\, Rebecca Clarke\, and Joan Trimble. Written within a span of just 20 years\, these works highlight the distinctive voices of three virtuoso musicians—American\, English\, and Irish—who later became deeply dedicated educators. Trimble’s award-winning Phantasy for Piano Trio carries a nod to Irish traditional music in its lush and melancholy character. Beach’s final composition\, Piano Trio\, Op. 150\, showcases her commanding pianism\, shifting between brooding lyricism and passionate intensity. Closing the program\, Clarke’s trio is an unrelenting\, emotionally charged work\, weaving a single motivic thread through three movements. Join us for an evening of extraordinary piano trio music!\n  \nProgram:\nAmy Beach – Piano Trio\, Op. 150\nRebecca Clarke – Piano Trio\nJoan Trimble – Phantasy Trio\n\nPerformers:\nThe Verve Trio\nElbert Tsai\, violin\nBrady Anderson\, cello\nChia-Lin Yang\, piano\n\nSaturday\, April 26\, 2025 at 7:30 PM\n(Click here to purchase Vallejo tickets)\nVallejo Naval & Historical Museum\n734 Marin St.\nVallejo\, CA
